Our Story

Hey friends! We are Kaity and Yara and we are also the proud owners of SoFetch! We know there are many options to choose from when looking for someone to care for your furry family members. We are so thankful you’ve stopped by to check us out and hope you’ll decide to trust us with such a great responsibility. Here is a little bit about us and our crew.

Kaity is orginally from Dayton, Ohio and is now a USMC Veteran. She spent her last four years of Active Duty assigned at Lackland AFB as a Military Working Dog Trainer. She has always been a crazy dog lady but her professional career with dogs started in 2015 in San Diego, California as a K9 Military Police Officer. While enlisted, she received numerous recognitions and awards for her achievements within the Military K9 world. Kaity brings the knowledge and structure that is required for a successful and rewarding training experience.

Yara was raised in Aurora, Colorado and moved to San Diego, California in 2016. Her love of animals has always been constant as she was around dogs a large part of her childhood but it was truly ignited after rescuing Bubba, her 6 year old Pitbull in 2016. Rescuing Bubba started a passion for helping animals especially those who were categorized as “aggressive” or unwanted simply based on their breed. Yara also has a deep-seated passion for birth and postpartum care and in January of 2024, trained and became a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula!

In August of 2022, we welcomed our son, Cruz. He already has such a strong affinity for dogs and eagerly participates in caring for them as much as he can. By involving him in the responsibilities and joys of pet ownership at such a young age, we hope to nurture his love for animals and also instill the important values of compassion and empathy. It’s our honor to be able to raise the next generation of animal lovers!

Bubba

Bubba has been a fighter and survivor since he was a small puppy. When he was rescued from the San Diego Humane Society in 2016, he had just undergone treatment for Parvo. He grew up surrounded by all kinds of dogs - tiny, small, big, giants…he’s seen it all! Now at 7 years old, he helps us at SoFetch! in determining if pups are a good fit to stay with us, as he is very neutral and non-reactive. Think of him as the “big brother” to everyone who stays with us.

Gus

Gus “Gussie Boy” is a 5 year old Blue Lacy Mix. Gus was our very first rescue from San Antonio. He was adopted through God’s Dogs Rescue in Von Ormy after was found roaming the streets and was suffering from extreme mange, amongst many other things. He was left with scarring on his face, and his piercing eyes can be intimidating, but he is the most gentle love bug we have ever met! His idea of a perfect date is being snuggled up next to us on the couch!

Steevie

Our youngest kiddo is our bearded lady Steevie! Steevie is a 4 year old German Longhaired Pointer/Lab Mix. She is a rescue from Charming Pet Rescue in Boerne, Texas. When we first brought Steevie home, she was shy, timid and hesitant about most things- dogs included. She now romps around the yard with the “big dogs” and loves to play rough! She is definitely one of the boys and has come such a long way. We’re so proud of her!
